Elton John wants to make a movie of 'Billy Elliot the Musical'.
John - who scored the musical, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this week - admitted it would be "lovely" to turn the show into a movie so more people could hear the songs.
He said: "It would be lovely to do a film version.
"There are other songs that we had had to leave out of the musical that would be great in the film."
The story - which follows an 11-year-old boy as he escapes the working class expectations of his family in County Durham to become a ballet dancer - was originally made into an Oscar-nominated film in 2000, but Elton is keen for a "fresh" version to be made with the musical numbers included.
He told BBC: "You can only do so much on stage with the material you've got and the length of the show, so I think if one did a movie of this show it would be nice to change some things and maybe put something fresh in."
Although Elton - who has sons Zachary, four, and Elijah, two, with his husband David Furnish - confessed he would be eager to work on the project, he teased he had "just written" another new musical, although refrained from giving further details.
