With this year (2021) almost at an end, many of us are getting excited for next year (2022) and the great selection of content we’ll be treated to. January 2022 will see the release of highly-anticipated animated adventure, Sing 2.
The next chapter in Illumination’s hit animated franchise will arrive with even bigger goals than before. Sing 2 is set to have a spectacular soundtrack, an incredible cast, and a thrilling story, as Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) and his incredible band of talented animals prepare for their most dazzling show yet.
In his hometown, Buster has made his baby, the New Moon Theatre, a roaring success, and has now set his eyes on a much bigger prize: debuting a show at the Crystal Tower Theatre in dazzling Redshore City.
However, Buster has no connections in Redshore, so he and his team - which includes harried mother pig Rosita (Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon), rocker porcupine Ash (Scarlett Johansson), earnest gorilla Johnny (Taron Egerton), shy elephant Meena (Tori Kelly) and, of course, porcine provocateur Gunter (Nick Kroll) - must sneak their way into the famous Crystal Entertainment offices, run by ruthless mogul wolf Jimmy Crystal (Emmy winner Bobby Cannavale).
In an effort to give his friends a chance at performing, Gunter throws out the idea of bringing in recluse rock legend Clay Calloway (Bono); the problem is that Buster has never met Clay, and the icon hasn't left his home in years.
Despite the excitement caused by the promise, Buster just feels intense pressure to get Clay to join his show.
The final trailer for Sing 2 gives a lot. We see hints of the movie's biggest performances, as well as some of the lows the team experiences, and of course, even more heart than we witnessed in the original feature.
Sing (2016) had the perfect amount of emotion and comedy, and it seems that its sequel won’t be much different, except perhaps showcasing a few more challenges that serve as hurdles for Buster and his team.
The addition of Clay will no doubt bring more emotion to this magical series, as an old lion with no wishes to return to society, seemingly breaks this train of thought and branches out in order to help out some incredibly talented animals.
Of course, Sing 2 looks phenomenal. All the characters are designed so well, and the costumes they wear along with the sets created for the performances are stunning, so it will definitely be a real treat when we see the movie in its entirety.
Sing 2 will be in cinemas on January 28th, 2022.
