Simone Ashley and Hero Fiennes Tiffin to star in new romcom
The 28-year-old 'Bridgerton' actress and the 26-year-old 'After' actor will take the lead in the Amazon Prime Video production, alongside a cast including Phil Dunster, Nikesh Patel, Adil Ray, Sindhu Vee, Anoushka Chadha, Kulvinder Ghir and Luke Fetherston, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The plot description reads: "Single and without a man on the horizon, Pia (Ashley) runs a failing photography studio in London with her best friend Jay (Fetherston). As her sister Sonal (Chadha) prepares to get married and her mother Laxmi (Vee) urges the resolutely independent Pia to partner up, a spiritual guru at Sonal’s engagement party predicts Pia will meet the love of her life among the next five dates she goes on. As her family intervenes, setting her up on a series of increasingly desperate blind dates, Pia begins a hilarious but heartfelt quest for real love.”
The film is based on the Australian movie 'Five Blind Dates', written by Shuang Hu and Nathan Ramos-Park.
It will be directed by Prarthana Mohan and written by Nikita Lalwani.
The film is being produced by 42, a management and film and TV production company based in London and Los Angeles
Amazon plans to release the movie on its platform in the UK and “and internationally".
It does not yet have a release date.
