Simon Pegg

Simon Pegg says he would love to appear in Star Wars because he is a huge fan of the franchise and director J.J. Abrams.

Abrams is on board as director of Star Wars VII and he will juggle that with any future Star Trek movies.

Pegg is back on the big screen this week as he reprises the role of Scotty in Star Trek Into Darkness - the second movie in this rebooted franchise.

And while Pegg would love to collaborate with Abrams again he says he would never as the director for a role in the new star Wars movie.

Speaking to the Press Association the actor said: "I would follow JJ anywhere. As a director, I love him and I really respect his choices.

"At the same time, I'm also a big fan of Star Wars and I'd love to see a Star Wars film and that might actually necessitate me not being in it so I can enjoy it fully.

"I respect JJ enough not to say, 'Please can I be in Star Wars?' because that would be unprofessional. I don't really respect myself at all to be honest. But it's still so far in the future and so up in the air."

Pegg has a busy summer ahead of his as Star Trek Into Darkness is not the only movie he has coming out as he is set to star in The World's End.

The comedy sees him reunite with Nick Frost and director Edgar Wright for the first time since Hot Fuzz.
