Simon Kinberg has revealed that Gambit will start shooting next year.
Gambit is a project that has been in the pipeline and Channing Tatum has been attached to take on the title role.
Gambit is a character that we have not seen much of in the X-Men universe but will be properly introduced in a standalone film.
Speaking That Hashtag Show, Kinberg, who will serve as producer, confirmed when cameras will start rolling.
He said: "We have a great script on that and hope to shoot that movie at the beginning of spring of next year."
Tatum is currently the only official member of the cast while Doug Liman is in the director's chair.
Liman has brought us movie such as The Bourne Identity, and Fair Game during his career but we have not seen him in the director's chair since the success of Edge of Tomorrow back in 2014.
But Gambit is not the only X-Men universe movie as Kinberg briefly talked about other projects that are on the horizon.
He continued: "The first thing up, we're shooting the Wolverine movie right now and we start shooting Deadpool 2 at the beginning of next year, then I sit down and start writing the next of the mainline X-Men movies."
Hugh Jackman is back as Wolverine as he reunites with director James Mangold for their second solo Wolverine movie together.
Ryan Reynolds returned as Deadpool at the beginning of the year and the movie has gone on to be one of the most critically and commercially successful films of 2016 so far.
As well as the Deadpool franchise, Reynolds has also talked about the possibility of appearing in an X-Force film. It remains unclear as to whether that will happen
There is currently no UK release date for Gambit.
