Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most in demand and exciting actresses working in Hollywood at the moment and she is set to return to the big screen in new biopic Joy.
Joy will sees the actress reunite with director David O. Russell for their third film together - they have already enjoyed huge success with Silver Linings Playbook - for which Lawrence won a Best Actress Oscar - and American Hustle - for which Lawrence picked up a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination.
Joy is already being tipped as a possible Oscar contender and could see Lawrence in the mix for the biggest prize once again as she takes on the title role. See her in action in the teaser trailer for the film:
Over the last couple of years, O.Russell has brought together impressive cast lists for his last couple of film projects... and Joy is not different. The movie sees Lawrence reunite with Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper, while Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, and Virginia Madsen are also on board.
Joy is the wild story of a family across four generations centered on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce.
Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy's inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces.
It is hard to believe that we are already talking possible contenders but it looks like Joy and Lawrence's central performance could well be amongst the runners and riders when the nominations are announced at the beginning of next year.
Joy is in UK cinemas 1st January 2016.
