Scarlett Johansson says she is looking to be ‘terrified’ when going into her movie roles.
Johansson is back on the big screen this week as she teams up with Joseph Gordon-Levitt as he makes his directorial debut with Don Jon.
Don Jon is the first of two smaller movies that we will be seeing Johansson star in - the other being Under The Skin - and the actress admits that she wants to discover things with the parts that she takes on.
Speaking to Empire the actress said: “I’m looking to be a little terrified going into things. If I know I can do something, even if it’s well written, to me, there’s no appeal. It would be a waste of time. There’d be nothing to discover.”
Both Don Jon and Under The Skin have been met well by the critics on the festival circuit so far this autumn, and both show off a very different side to this actress.
But she will be returning to the blockbuster film in the new years as she is set to team up with Chris Evans for Captain America: The Winter Solider; it will be the first time we have seen her takes on the role of Black Widow since the success of Avengers Assemble.
Talking of the Avengers, filming is also set to get underway on The Avengers: Age of Ultron early next year and Johansson will once again team up with Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo.
Johansson is currently filming Lucy - in which she takes on the title role - which is directed by Luc Besson and will also star Morgan Freeman.
Don Jon is released 15th November.
