Scarlett Johansson has described her new science fiction film Under The Skin as ‘disorientating’.
Johansson is back on the big screen in the new year as she teams up with filmmaker Jonathan Glazer for the first film for the project.
The actress will take on the role of an alien called Laura, as Michael Faber’s novel is brought to the big screen.
Speaking to Total Film the actress said: “It was strange. I remember I watched it with my assistant, who was with me for some of the filming, and the two of us left the theatre and she was like ‘I can’t breathe’”.
And Johansson says that this was a reaction that was repeated when the movie was screened at the Venice Film Festival earlier this year. “You could feel everybody go ‘What the fuck?’ It’s very disorientating.”
The movie has been whipping up a storm of the festival circuit this autumn, as it has been dividing opinion wherever it has played.
Johansson will also be reprising the role of Black Widow in Captain America: The Winter Solider as she reunites with actor Chris Evans.
She has also finished work on Chef and Her; the latter sees her lend her voice to the character Samantha alongside Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Rooney Mara.
Under The Skin is released 14th March.
