Saoirse Ronan admits that she is trying not to think about the possibility of an Oscar nomination.
Ronan was the toast of London over the weekend when she scooped the Best Actress award at the British Independent Film Awards for her central performance in Brooklyn.
Brooklyn has been winning over critics and audiences since it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and Ronan is tipped to be in the Oscar mix come the beginning of next year.
And while Ronan is flattered to be part of the Oscar discussion, she is not thinking that far ahead.
Speaking to Sky News, the actress said: "You know obviously you're aware of that kind of discussion but you can't think about it too much because you will become a basketcase so I'm trying not to think about that but it's still, it's lovely to be part of that whole discussion."
Should Ronan pick up a nomination, it would be the second Oscar nod of her career - she picked up a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Atonement - but it would be the first Best Actress nomination of her career.
It was a loaded field at the British Independent Film Awards on Sunday as Ronan saw off competition from Charlotte Rampling, Alicia Vikander, Carey Mulligan and Marion Cotillard to get her hands on the prize.
Brooklyn is a big screen adaptation of the novel of the same name by Colm Tóibín and saw Ronan team up with director John Crowley for the first time.
And we are going to be seeing plenty of Ronan on the big screen as we head into 2016 as she has already completed work on Loving Vincent and The Seagull.
