Saoirse Ronan says How I Live Now appealed to her because she wanted to the chance to play a ‘current’ character.
Ronan has returned to the big screen this weekend as she leads the cast in the latest film from director Kevin Macdonald; the movie is a big screen adaptation of the Meg Rosoff novel of the same name.
Speaking to FemaleFirst exclusively in London the actress talked about what drew her to this movie: “I was desperate to play someone who was very current and a very modern teenage girl.
"I have played three roles in a role where the character was very serene and understanding; I didn't want to do that any more."
How I Live Now sees Ronan work with Macdonald for the first time in this teen movie with a surprising twist.
It has already been a busy year for Ronan as How I Live Now is her fourth movie release; she has so far enjoyed success with The Host, Byzantium and animation film Justin and the Knights of Valour.
She has also completed work on The Grand Budapest Hotel and How To Catch a Monster: which is the directorial debut of Ryan Gosling.
This week also saw Ronan reveal that she has auditioned for Star Wars VII - however she would not say what role we may be seeing her in.
