Saoirse Ronan is set to star in Greta Gerwig's film 'Lady Bird'.
Hot off the back of her Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her performance in 2015 movie 'Brooklyn', the 21-year-old star has joined the cast of the movie which will be Gerwig's writing and directorial debut.
The film is set in Sacramento and Saoirse will play a high school senior who is about to graduate and the story will follow her last year at home before she heads off to college.

Saoirse has received much recognition for her acting roles in her short career.
The Irish star nabbed Golden Globe, BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations for 'Brooklyn' in which she portrays a young Irish woman who emigrates to New York City in the early 1950s, and she was one of the youngest people to ever receive an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress, for her performance in the 2007 drama 'Atonement'.
Saoirse also starred in Peter Jackson's 2009 movie 'The Lovely Bones' for which she was handed a Critics' Choice Award, a Saturn Award and a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role and she starred in Wes Anderson's comedy 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' alongside Ralph Fiennes, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton and Adrien Brody.
