Saoirse Ronan has described her new movie Brooklyn as an 'incredibly emotional film.'
Ronan is set to return to the big screen this November with Brooklyn, which is an adaptation of the novel by Colm Tóibín, in which the young actress will take on the central role of Eilis Lacey.
And the actress admits that the movie brought back a lot of memories of home, leaving, home and how things can never be the same once you have left.
During a Screen Talk with LFF Connects at the London Film Festival, the actress said: "It's an incredibly emotional film. We all know what that feeling (of leaving home) is like, what that heaviness is like.
"The realisation sets in that you can't go back, that once you've made that step, you can never go back to how it was, before you left, and you can't prepare yourself for that, you know? That's not something that anyone tells you about really, when you leave home.
"I was so desperate to get out of there, and then over the last few years I have started to mourn the simplicity of it; the beauty of living in a place where everyone knows each other."
Brooklyn has screened as part of the BFI London Film festival programme and Ronan stole the show as she walked the red carpet to promote the movie.
The film sees the actress team up with filmmaker John Crowley for the first time, while Domhnall Gleeson, Emory Cohen, Julie Walters, and Jim Broadbent make up the exciting and talented cast list.
Brooklyn has been tipped as a potential Oscar contender ever since the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival back at the beginning of the year.
The movie could find itself in the Best Picture race, while Ronan's central performance is winning over critics and she could pick up her first Best Actress Oscar nomination for her work.
Brooklyn is released 6th November.
