Sandra Bullock at the Hollywood Film Awards
Sandra Bullock was the toast of the Hollywood Film Awards as she picked up the Hollywood Actress award.
Bullock will be returning to the big screen this autumn with sci-fi epic Gravity, and it was for this performance that she scooped the gong.
She takes on the role of Dr Ryan Stone in the film, an astronaut who finds herself floating in space when a spacewalk goes wrong.
Gravity has been the toast of the festival circuit in recent weeks and looks set to be a major awards player: it is being tipped as an Oscar contender.
Matthew McConaughey was another of the big winners as he scooped the Hollywood Actor gong for his role in last year's Magic Mike.
The supporting actor/actress prizes went to Jake Gyllenhaal for Prisoners and Julia Roberts for August: Osage County.
There was also some British success as Steve McQueen was presented with the Breakout Director award: the award was presented to him by Kanye West.
