Samuel L. Jackson is believed to be in talks to appear in Kong: Skull Island.
Kong: Skull Island was a movie that caused some excitement when the project was announced at Comic-Con in San Diego last year. However, it has been a project that has been plagued with issues and delays.
Not only did the script have to be rewritten and the release date pushed back to 2017, but there have also been some casting issues.
Tom Hiddleston, J.K. Simmons and Michael Keaton were some of the early big names on the cast list. Due to the delays that have plagued the project it was announced earlier this year that both Simmons and Keaton were forced to drop out of the film.
Since the two actors have left the film, Legendary Pictures are now on the hunt to find their replacements. Deadline has announced that Jackson is in talks to take over the role that was originally given to Simmons.
Should Jackson land the role, it would see him reunite with Hiddleston for the first time since they came face to face as Nick Fury and Loki in the Avengers Assemble back in 2012.
Tom Wilkinson is believed to have been offered a role in the film, while John C. Reilly is believed to be being circled to play Keaton.
The movie, which will follow a group of explorers on Skull Island - the home of the mighty King Kong, will see Jordan Vogt-Roberts in the director's chair; he brought us the fantastic The Kings of Summer two years ago. This is set to be the biggest film of his career to date.
We have already seen Jackson enjoy success with Kingsman: The Secret Service and Avengers: Age of Ultron so far this year and he has completed work on Chiraq and The Hateful Eight, Tarzan, and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
Despite the presence of the character Nick Fury in many of the Avengers films, we will not be seeing Jackson reprise this role next year in Captain America: Civil War.
Kong: Skull Island is set to hit the big screen in the UK on 10th March 2017.
