Sam Taylor-Johnson has been described as 'incredibly talented' by Fifty Shades of Grey author EL James.
Taylor-Johnson will direct the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of the hit novel.
And James is very pleased with the choice, saying that the female director understands her book.
Speaking to Vulture the author said; "I saw both of her films, and I was blown away. Simple.
"She's creative, incredibly talented, she's got an extraordinary eye. She had a good idea about the whole Fifty experience, she understands it.
"And I thought, 'There's a woman I can go and get drunk with' [laughs]."
While the director's chair may be filled, there is still no news on who will take on the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.
Names such as Alexander Skarsgard, Ian Somerhalder, Mila Kunis and Amanda Seyfried have been banded around over the last twelve months.
The movie is scheduled to hit the big screen next summer.
