Sam Mendes has said that the idea of making Bond 24 made his 'physically ill.'
Mendes has been tipped to return as director for the twenty fourth Bond film after the billion dollar success of Skyfall last year.
But it was revealed earlier this year that the director had turned down the opportunity to return.
Speaking to The Guardian the director said: "Was I willing to go back into a room with a writer and start work on the same set of characters and the same scenarios as I've been working on for the last three years?"
"The idea made me physically ill."
Mendes reunited with Daniel Craig for Skyfall, which went on to become the most successful Bond movie of all time.
The Oscar winning filmmaker has a string of theatre projects to work on this year as well as having TV series Penny Dreadful in the pipeline.
As for Bond 24 no director has yet been announced but Daniel Craig will reprise the role of 007.
