Sam Claflin has revealed that he went on a tough physical regime as he prepared for his role of Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The actor - who has starred in Snow White and the Huntsman and Pirate of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - is one of the new faces on the cast list as one of the big new roles in the second instalment of the popular franchise.
But Claflin says that he had to get into shape for the role - calling the preparation 'hard work'.
Speaking to Future Radio 107.8 the actor said: "You have to keep focusing and working hard, and the moment you channel that out I just had fun really. And it was hard work, it was definitely, definitely hard work.
"I was eating chicken and asparagus twice a day, every day. Not including all the other meals I was forced to have each day. And then working out two or three times a day."
Claflin is not the only new face we will be seeing on the cast list as Jenna Malone will play Johanna Mason while Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman will take on the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Banks will all be reprising their roles from the first film.
Filming is still underway on the movie and sees Francis Lawrence take over the director's chair.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is released 22nd November.
