Ryan Gosling transformed himself with fake tan for his role in 'The Big Short.'
Gosling reunited with his 'Crazy Stupid Love' co-star Steve Carell for the upcoming biopic about the 2008 Wall Street financial crash in the Adam McKay directed movie, which is based on Michael Lewis' tell-all book.
The pair play slick city bankers Jared Vennett and Mark Baum and the plot follows the pair as they predict the looming crisis and they both admit their costumes of flash suits and bright fake tan helped them get into character.
Ryan, 35, shared: "We tried to have a different colour tan every scene. A different shade, like one of those colour charts where you just go for every version. It was the early 2000s, so I don't think the fake tan had been perfected yet. The spray tan wasn't as nuanced as it is now."
Steve, 53, added: "Adam asked me to put on some weight, so I put on 20-25lbs. I thought, 'Oh, this is my chance to just go crazy!' They dyed my eyebrows, too, they bleached them out I was not looking my best ... But it felt right for the character."
'The Big Short' also stars Christian Bale and Brad Pitt - who was as executive producer of the producer - and Ryan was impressed with his composure on set.
In an interview with Total Film magazine, Ryan said: "As a producer, he's a very graceful guy. He would be on set but never imposing, but present, and allowing everyone to do their work, but there if you needed him. I thought he handled it well."
