Rose Byrne loves being "part of the superhero universe".
Byrne plays geneticist Moira MacTaggert in 'X-Men: Apocalypse' and while she is not a huge fan of superhero movies, she was surprised by how much she enjoyed this one.
She said: "It's actually really fun being part of the superhero universe. I don't gravitate towards those kind of movies myself, but I've come to appreciate how people just live for them. They're part of the fabric of pop culture. To be able to say, 'Oh, I played that girl in a comic...'"
Rose also loves being able to work on different genres of movies and combining her Hollywood career with theatre roles.
She said: "I did a super cute movie 'The Meddler' with Susan Sarandon; 'Neighbours', which is a really bawdy, hard comedy; and then 'X-Men', this big, sprawling, ensemble fantasy film. That feels, for me, like a great year creatively.
"Getting to do theatre is a wonderful thing for an actor. It really gets you away from the noise of the business."
Meanwhile, Rose has also set up a production company, Dollhouse, in order to create more female-led projects and admitted it has been "a steep learning curve".
She told The Sunday Times Style magazine: "I just didn't know how the money side of film really worked. Most of the scripts I read, I'd much rather play the guy than the girl."
