Rooney Mara admits that she has been glad of the break from character Lisbeth Salander but is keen to reprise the role.
Mara has picked up a Best Actress OScar nomination for her role as Salander in David Fincher's adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
The movie, which also starred Daniel Craig was met well by the critics and there was talk of the second film in the trilogy going ahead.
In an interview with Collider the actress said: "I'm happy to have a little break, but I am eager to revisit her. But, I'm happy to have a break first."
"For myself, it probably is easier to play a character who is much different, with an accent and who looks different and walks different," Mara said.
"I find that much more enjoyable," she added. "But, at the same time, I felt like [Lisbeth] Salander was very familiar to me. We do have a lot in common. I think a little bit of both is good."
As well as possible other Millennium Trilogy movies the actress has also been linked to The Bitter Pill and Lawless.
