Ron Perlman has revealed that he has been hounding Guillermo del Toro into completing the Hellboy trilogy.
Perlman took on the title role in the first two movies and the original plan was to always make three films.
But it was back in 2008 when Hellboy II: The Golden Army hit the big screen and Perlman feels it is time to bring the hero back.
Speaking to IGN the actor said: "[Del Toro and I] both walked away from Hellboy 2 agreeing that there would never be another one.
"But, with the passage of time, it became clear to me that he really always designed it as a trilogy.
"[Guillermo] has a very well-articulated idea of what the resolve would look like and it's amazingly theatrical and is epic in scope and would make for amazing cinema, with or without the first two movies.
"I said [to Guillermo], 'You owe it to the world to finish this trilogy' - I've been giving him Jewish guilt."
While it may not be a third Hellboy movie Perlman has reunited with del Toro for Pacific Rim - which is set to be one of the biggest sci-fi films of the year.
Pacific Rim is the first film for del Toro since Hellboy II after producing a sting of projects.
And while Perlman may have one eye on a third Hellboy film he has a busy 2013 ahead of him as he has already completed work on Kid Cannabis and Angry Little God.
He is currently working on Tbilisi, My City with a string of other projects in the pipeline.
Pacific Rim is released 12th July.
