'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' is a tale of "friendship" rather than romance, according to Felicity Jones.
The 32-year-old-star has been cast as Jyn Erso in the spin-off movie and revealed the plot will centre on the camaraderie between the "motley crew" of rebel fighters.
Asked if her character has a love interest, she said: "Not ... (pauses) There's a lot of love between all of them! "Because they're a group of rebels, it's more rooted in friendship and finding a cause they all join in together, because they're this motley crew who band together to steal plans for the death star."
Jyn is a "streetwise" character who takes centre stage among the fighters and Jones hopes she portrayed her "thick skin" but also her human side.
She told Metro newspaper: "She's had a difficult past. She's someone who's had experience. She's pretty streetwise and she has thick skin. But I didn't want her to be without her idiosyncrasies. Maybe sometimes she makes mistakes but ultimately I hope there's a real humanity to her."
The actress - who was most recently seen in 'Inferno' opposite Tom Cruise' - stars alongside an impressive cast that includes Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker and says working with the actors in their various costumes was "bizarre".
She said: "It was really good fun! Being able to work with your fellow actors being these bizarre-looking many tentacled creatures was a nice change."
