Robert Redford says he got on board Captain America: The Winter Solider because it was 'different'.
The actor is set to take on the role of Alexander Pierce, a senior leader within S.H.I.E.L.D. - a role that is unlike anything that he has done before.
And the Oscar winner admits that it was because it was different to anything else he has done that he was interested.
Speaking to Total Film the actor said: "I've always liked all kinds of pitches. (laughs) curveball, fastball, slowball... but it's very simple: I'm only doing it because it's different. It's not a major part."
The movie will see Redford team up with director Anthony and Joe Russo while Chris Evans is reprising the title role.
Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Dominic Cooper and Anthony Mackie are all also on board.
This is the second stand alone Captain America movie and filming is currently underway.
Redford will also be back on the big screen at the end of the year with All Is Lost.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is released 4th April.
