The sci-fi film - which is inspired by Edward Ashton's 2022 novel 'Mickey7' - was scheduled to come out on March 29, but Warner Bros. Pictures has now announced that 'Godzilla' sequel 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire' is replacing it on the release slate.
The reason for the delay is due to production challenges related to last year's SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.
Director Bong Joon-ho's film follows Mickey Barnes - played by Pattinson - who is a disposable employee, known as an "expendable", on an expedition to colonise the ice planet Niflheim. If Mickey dies a new body is regenerated with the majority of his memories intact.
The synopsis reads: "Whenever there's a mission that's too dangerous — even suicidal — the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact.
"Mickey understands the terms of his deal... and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it."
Pattinson, 37, is joined in the cast by Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo, who plays the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Meanwhile, Pattinson is reprising his role as DC Comics superhero Batman in Matt Reeves' sequel to the 2022 blockbuster 'The Batman'.
