Robert Pattinson reveals he has always felt that he has had to prove himself as an actor.
Pattinson is one of the biggest and most in demand actors in Hollywood at the moment but has often struggled with the fame and attention that has come his way.
The actor, who did shoot to fame playing Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise, says that he does wish that he had a bigger ego to help cope with everything.
Speaking to German's Jolie magazine, the actor said: "I've always had the feeling I need to prove myself: as an actor, a star, a person.
"That might be how I've managed to keep my feet on the ground. Although I've often wished I had a bigger ego - maybe it would have helped me cope with all the things around me."
Pattinson has now left the Twilight franchise behind but we haven't seen him on the big screen since the release of Maps to the Stars last year. More recently, we have seen him mix and match his roles with the likes of The Rover and Cosmopolis under his belt.
However, Pattinson will be back later this year as he takes on the role of photographer Dennis Stock in Life. Directed by Anton Corbijn, Life explores the friendship between the Life Magazine photographer and actor James Dean.
Life will mark the first time that Pattinson has worked with Corbijn - who has already brought us Control, The American, and A Most Wanted Man - while Dane DeHaan takes on the role of Dean. Joel Edgerton and Ben Kingsley complete the cast list.
Pattinson has also completed work on The Childhood of a Leader, which sees him team up with Liam Cunningham and Berenice Bejo.
Life is released 25th September here in the UK.
