Robert Downey Jr has revealed that J.J. Abrams was called on for help for certain parts of Iron Man 3.
Shane Black is in the director's chair this time around and he was not afraid to reach out for help - just like Favreau had called on him on earlier films.
Downey Jr admits that there were point of confusion on the third film and Abrams stepped in to lend a hand.
Speaking to IGN the actor said: "There were a couple times in Iron Man 3 where our lifeline was we'd call Jon Favreau.
"[Favreau] reached out to Shane a bunch, particularly in the first Iron Man.
"Then we reached out to JJ Abrams at one point when we were really confused in Act III, and he helped us, too."
Downey Jr first took on the role of Iron Man back in 2008 and the first two films have taken in excess of $1 billion at the global box office.
Downey Jr reprised the role last year for Avengers Assemble - which went on to become the third biggest grossing movie of all time.
Iron Man 3 is released 25th April.
