Richard Linklater has revealed that he was nervous about tackling ambitious film project Boyhood.
Linklater returns to the director's chair this week with Boyhood, a movie that was filmed over twelve years with the same cast.
The movie follows central character Mason from the age of five to eighteen, and it was a huge undertaking for Linklater.
Speaking to Collider, the director said: "Yeah, I was worried about that, particularly in the early years.
"Our biggest gap was between one and two, which was just sheer scheduling and business. The end was so far away that it was abstract.
"It got easy in the second half because it was like, 'We’re halfway there!' You could see it a little more."
Boyhood sees Linklater reunite with Ethan Hawke, while Ellar Coltrane and Patricia Arquette are just some of the other names on the cast list.
Boyhood is released 11th July.
