Richard Linklater paid tribute to all parents when picked up the Best Director Golden Globe award last night.
Linklater picked up the Best Director gong for his film Boyhood, which took him twelve years to make. Boyhood was the big winner of the night as it won Best Film, Drama and Best Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette.
Speaking as he collected his gong, the director said: "I want to dedicate this to parents that are evolving everywhere and families that are just passing through this world and doing their best.
"Bottom line is we're all flawed in this world. No one's perfect."
Boyhood is a movie that was written and directed by Linklater and followed the growth of a young boy, his sister and their family over a twelve year period.
Arquette was joined on the cast list by Ethan Hawke, Ellar Coltrane, and Lorelei Linklater, who all returned to the project time and time again over the years.
Boyhood saw off the challenge from The Theory of Everything, Foxcatcher, Selma, and The Imitation Game and will not be a major contender when it comes to the Oscars.
The Oscar nominations are set to be announced later this week, and Boyhood is set to pick up Best Picture and Best Director nominations.
