Rebecca Hall says her interest The Gift was 'piqued' before she read the script as she was keen to work with Joel Edgerton as a director.
Hall is back on the big screen this week in the new thriller, which sees Edgerton make his feature film directorial debut. Edgerton has also penned the screenplay and will take on the role of stalker Gordo in the film.
The actress reveals she knew that Edgerton was keen to make the leap into the director's chair and she says that she really want to be a part of that adventure.
Speaking to Collider, Hall said: "I read the script and thought it was really good, and I said yes. I had met Joel [Edgerton] a couple of times, around and about socially, so I knew that he was smart and interested in directing and writing.
"So, my interest was piqued before I read the script and I wanted to be a part of his being a director."
Hall is set to team up with Jason Bateman to play married couple Robyn and Simon, whose lives are turned upside down when a friend from Simon's past appears in their lives. Simon has a secret... but what is it?
Hall has seen her star rocket in recent years with movies such as The awakening, Iron Man 3 and Transcendence under her belt.
The actress has already finished work on The BFG, which sees her worked with director Steven Spielberg, and Christine, which sees her team up with Michael C Hall.
The BFG is an new adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic and sees Hall on the cast list alongside Bill Hader, Penelope Wilton, and Mark Rylance. It is set to be one of the must see films of next summer.
Hell is currently filming television movie Codes of Conduct with 12 Years A Slave filmmaker Steve McQueen. Helena Bonham Carter, Paul Dano, and Sam Reid are also on board.
