Rebecca Hall has described Wally Pfister as a 'unique' filmmaker.
Pfister makes his feature film directorial debut later this month with Transcendence, and yet he has a wealth of film experience having worked in cinematography.
Transcendence reunites Pfister with Hall: Pfister was the DOP on The Prestige, in which Hall starred.
And Hall reveals that Pfister brought an enthusiasm as well as experience to the director's chair.
Speaking to Flicks and Bits, the actress said: "He’s unique. I have never worked with a first-time director who has as much experience as Wally, and I probably never will (laughs). And that’s a really unusual and rich quality.
"He had all the enthusiasm and optimism of a first time director, but then the experience and the understanding of someone who’s been doing it for years and knows everything about it.
"Also, he’s incredibly gifted with narrative, he knows how to tell a story and I think that comes from years of filmmaking and an interest in film and narrative and emotions."
Hall will play Johnny Depp's wife in this new sci-fi film, which also sees Morgan Freeman, Paul Bettany and Kate Mara star.
Transcendence will be the first big screen outing for Hall this year, and she is currently filming Tumbledown.
The movie will sees her Sean Mewshaw - another first time feature filmmaker - and star alongside Joe Manganiello, Dianna Agron, Jason Sudeikis and Blythe Danner.
Transcendence is released 25th April.
