Rebecca Hall has revealed that actresses such as Katharine Hepburn and Bette Davis are her heroes.
Hall says she has always wanted to act because movie played such a huge par of her life when she was young.
Speaking to Gotham magazine, the actress said: "I always aspired to do movie acting. Movies, particularly black and white movies, were a big part of my growing up.
"My mum had a sort of Golden Age of Hollywood obsession. My heroes were film actresses like Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck, Katharine Hepburn."
Hall has become of the most sought after British actresses, as she has worked in TV and film in recent years.
Her big screen projects have included the likes of The Awakening, The Town and Iron Man 3. While she teamed up with benedict Cumberbatch for TV series Parade's End.
She will be back on the big screen this spring with new sci-fi film Transcendence.
Transcendence is the directorial debut for Wally Pfister, and will also star Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman and Paul Bettany.
Transcendence is released 25th April.
