For years now, Johnny Depp has been entertaining audiences in the role of Captain Jack Sparrow, and this year he’ll return in the fifth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series, with Dead Men Tell No Tales. This week, a brand new trailer for the upcoming flick was revealed, showcasing the crazy personality we’ve all grown to love when it comes to Captain Jack.
Also returning to the cast are Orlando Bloom as Will Turner and Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, while new additions include former Skins actress Kaya Scodelario as female lead, Carina Smyth. Meanwhile, it’s Javier Bardem who’s playing the bad guy this time round as he steps into the shoes of Captain Salazar; a man intent on wiping Captain Jack out once and for all.
The trailer also shows off the power of CGI, as we see Depp himself manipulated into a young Jack Sparrow and Bardem’s villainous crew rushing along the ocean. It’s not the most convincing CGI we’ve ever seen, but so long as it’s kept in short supply rather than being pumped heavily throughout the flick, it shouldn’t prove to be too much of a distraction.
Currently in post-production, Pirates of the Caribbean 5 looks set to hit theatres on May 26, 2017.
