Peter Jackson took to Facebook to reveal that he and the cast of The Hobbit were back in New Zealand working on pick-ups.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again are the two movies yet to hit the big screen and work has begun adding the final acting touches to both movies.
He wrote "Back on set for our last Hobbit pick ups. Our last ever Tolkien pick ups, in fact.
"It's going to be an intense few weeks, but we're looking forward to shooting some powerful scenes with our great cast. Our next blog is coming soon!"
However we are going to have to wait until December before The Desolation of Smaug hits the big screen - where we will see Benedict Cumberbatch bring the character of Smaug to life.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was a huge box office hit at the end of last year as it followed in the footsteps of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King by surpassing the $1 billion mark at the global box office.
The second movie will see Martin Freeman reprise the role of Bilbo Baggins while Ian McKellan and Richard Armitage are back. British actor Luke Evans is another of the new additions to the cast list.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is released 13th December.
