Peter Jackson has revealed that he would love to direct an episode of Doctor Who.
Jackson is back in the director's chair this week for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, but admits that he would love to give TV work a go.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Jackson said: "I would be very happy to.
"I'd love to try my hand at television, because I've never had the discipline of having to shoot for those impossibly tiny schedules. I think I could do it okay now."
Jackson would not be the first high profile director to work on the popular series, as it has been announced that Ben Wheatley is set to direct some episodes of the new series.
However, Jackson's Doctor Who dreams are going to have to be put on the back burner for now with The Desolation of Smaug released on Friday and There and Back Again released next year.
Jackson will also be back with The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun; he will direct the project this time around while Spielberg will produce.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is released 13th December.
