Peter Berg reveals that he has the cast of Lone Survivor to spend as much time with Navy SEALs as possible.
Later this month Berg will bring Marcus Luttrell's memoir of the same name to the big screen - which tells the story of the failed June 28, 2005 mission "Operation Red Wings.
Berg wanted his all-star cast to get a great an understanding as possible of the SEALs and a lot of time was spent with them before and during the filming.
Speaking to Collider the director said: "I asked them to spend as much time with the families of the SEAL that they were playing and the SEAL community and go through our training process which was about two weeks of intense training for them.
"And then every day, we had SEALs on set for them. One of them spent as much time with the SEALs and their families so they could kind of - not to try to become as tough as a SEAL, as strong as a SEAL physically, but to try to understand what that character is like and what that personality type is like so they could capture it.
"So we spent a lot of time with Navy SEALs."
Berg has brought together a great cast for the film as Mark Wahlberg, Ben Foster, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch and Eric Bana are all on board.
Lone Survivor is the first big screen outing for Berg since Battleship, but he is set to return to TV with series The Leftovers and movie Ballers in the pipeline.
Lone Survivor is released 31st January.
