Paul Rudd is in talks for the title role of Marvel's Ant-Man.
Rudd has been linked to the role for some time, but now he is believed to be in formal negotiations to star in the movie.
Ant-Man will see Edgar Wright return to the director's chair and this will be the film that kicks off Marvel's Phase 3 of films.
All autumn Rudd was believed to be in the running for this role along with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
There has not yet been an official announcement about the casting rumours and 'I Love You, Man' actress Rashida Jones could be playing Jane van Dyne, Ant-Man's love interest who becomes a superheroine herself, taking on the alter-ego of The Wasp.
Should Rudd land the role of Hank Pym, filming is set to get underway on the film next year for the summer 2015 release.
It is likely that we would also see him join a third Avengers movie further down the line.
Rudd returns to the big screen this week with Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues - a movie that seems him reprise the role of Brian Fantana.
He has also completed work on They Came Together, a comedy with Cobie Smulders and Michael Shannon.
