Paul King reveals that he has discussed the possibility of making a Paddington sequel.
King returned to the director's chair last year to bring the iconic Paddington to the big screen for the first time - a movie that saw him team up with producer David Heyman.
The movie has gone on to be both a hit with the critics as well as a commercial smash at the box office. And while King reveals that he and Heyman have discussed a second film, there is nothing yet set in stone.
Speaking exclusively to FemaleFirst, the filmmaker said: "We have certainly talked about it. There are lots of Paddington books and we would certainly like to do more. However, we haven't gone any further than wanting to do more, yet. It is something that I have been talking about with David and we would love to find a way to make of making that work. So far, we haven't quite got going (laughs).
"I think we are both so tried - it feels like we have had three months to get over it but we worked every second of every day for the last two years putting the first one together and we are still slightly red-eyed over the whole thing. I think we will try and sort something out soon."
Paddington marked the return of King to the director's chair for the first time since Bunny and the Bull back in 2009 and this was the biggest film of his directing career to date.
Ben Whishaw, Sally Hawkins, Hugh Bonneville, Nicole Kidman, Julie Walters, and Jim Broadbent were just some of the names on board as the film went on to gross in excess of $251 million at the global box office.
While a Paddington sequel will be King's next project is unclear, as the filmmaker revealed that he is reading a bunch of other scripts. However, he has no other film project in the pipeline at the moment.
