Guillermo Del Toro has announced that Pacific Rim sequel will hit the big screen April 7, 2017.
Earlier this month Del Toro revealed that he was working on a script for the sequel, but now it seems the project is officially a-go.
As well as penning the screenplay, Del Toro will also be returning to the director's chair to helm the film.
In a video to fans, Del Toro confirmed that he was working with both Zac Penn and Travis Beacham on the screenplay for the film. He also hinted that we would see more Jaegers and Kaijus 'kicking each others butts'.
However, no official announcement has been made as to who will be starring in the new film.
Pacific Rim hit the big screen last year, and while it was a huge critical success, it went on to gross over $411 million at the global box office.
Del Toro has just completed filming on new horror film Crimson Peak, which will be released next year.
He has brought together a great cast for the film, as Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain, and Mia Wasikowska are all on board.
