Oscar Isaac says that he was 'excited' at the prospect of playing Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse and says the role was a 'challenge.'
Isaac is one of the big new additions to the X-Men cast list as we are going to be introduced to the character of Apocalypse for the first time.
The actor admits that he has always been a fan of X-Men and this character and so there was immediate interest when this film and role came his way.
Speaking to Paste, Isaac said: "I was also a big fan of X-Men, particularly the villain Apocalypse, so when those parts came around and there was interest for me to do them, I was excited about it.
"I was excited to explore those worlds. There is something more mythical - basically, you're playing God. It's a challenge."
X-Men: Apocalypse will come two years after the huge success of Days of Future Past and will see Bryan Singer once again return to the director's chair - it will be his first film project since the success of the 2014 movie.
Isaac is not the only new addition to the cast list as Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smith-McPhee take over the roles of Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, and Nightcrawler. We are also going to be introduced to Olivia Munn as Psylocke.
However, there are plenty of familiar faces on board as James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Evan Peters are back as Charles Xavier, Magneto, Mystique, Beasts and Quicksilver.
It has already been a busy year for Isaac as we have seen him in sci-fi hit Ex Machina. The actor is also set to take on the role of Poe Dameron in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens in December.
X-Men: Apocalypse is released 19th May 2016.
