Orlando Bloom has described the chance to reprise the role of Legolas as an 'honour' and is thrilled to get to explore this character further.
Bloom returned to the role last year in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, twelve years after he played the part of Legolas for the first time in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
He is set to return in December with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, which will bring Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy to a close.
Speaking to SFX Magazine, the actor said: "To have the opportunity to play Tolkein's character at the tender age of 21 - I took that responsibility seriously.
"And to come back and play the character in 'The Hobbit' was a great honour and privilege.
"It was quite liberating because his journey isn't written about in 'The Hobbit' as such. We were able to play with the idea of who the character was."
The Hobbit movies have allowed Legolas to reunite with Jackson, as well as actors such as Ian McKellan and Cate Blanchett.
However the new franchise has seen the actor work alongside new faces as Lee Pace, Evangeline Lilly, Richard Armitage, and Martin Freeman have been some of the great new names on board.
An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug have grossed almost $2 billion at the global box office, but The Battle of the Five Armies is promising to be the biggest and most epic instalment yet.
As for Bloom, he has also completed work on Digging for Gold and is currently filming Unlocked, which sees him star alongside Noomi Rapace and Michael Douglas.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is released 12th December.
