Orlando Bloom has been tipped to play Batman in 'Batman vs. Superman'.
The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor is reportedly the "hot favourite" to the land the superhero role in Warner Bros.' ambitious new blockbuster movie which will unite the caped crusader with Superman - played by Henry Cavill - for the first time.
A studio source told the Daily Express newspaper: "Orlando looks odds-on to get the part even before our first casting call. He would be perfect to play off Henry and I think US audiences would be happy with two Brits as the joint male leads."
Warner Bros. announced it will release the hotly anticipated feature film in 2015 as a sequel to the hit Superman reboot, 'Man of Steel', which has grossed $647 million worldwide since its release in June.
It was recently reported that producers are looking to cast an older actor in the role of Batman and his alter-ego Bruce Wayne, with 'Men in Black 3' actor Josh Brolin, 45, leading the pack of contenders.
The Hollywood Reporter claimed: "Wayne/Batman will be in the late 30s or around the 40 mark. He will be established and rugged. This new movie will not seek to recount an origin story or the rise of the Dark Knight."
'Batman vs. Superman' will be directed by 'Man of Steel' filmmaker Zack Snyder and written by David S. Goyer.
Bloom will next be seen reprising his 'Lord of the Rings' role, Legolas, in 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug'.
