Munn was asked to play the lead character's girlfriend in the film starring Ryan Reynolds but opted for a role in 'X-Men: Apocalypse' instead because she was promised a fight scene.

Speaking on her early meetings with the 'X-Men' producers, she shared: "I said, 'Is there a fight scene?' ... The fight scene could be her monologue.

"I thought Psylocke was always one of the most lethal characters, and I said, 'Yes, as long as you're not using her to be the eye candy. She has really powerful abilities.' And they said, 'Yes, that's an important part.'"

And the 'Ride Along 2' star also opened up about how her mother Kim Munn worked incredibly hard to help her get into acting.

She added: "She knew I really wanted to go to Los Angeles and do this casting thing, which didn't amount to anything. I didn't ask because we didn't have a lot of money. She said, 'I can always work hard and find the money somewhere, but you can never relive an opportunity.' That's what stuck with me. I want the opportunities and experiences ...

"Even my own friends are like, 'Really?' I love being an actor. Maybe it's just the feeling of being in front of the camera or the people I've met who've rubbed me the wrong [way]. Maybe I don't want to play that game."

In the future, Olivia is keen to step behind the camera as she finds the prospect of "shaping" a whole movie exciting.

She added to American Way magazine: "For me, I would eventually love to be behind and not in front of the camera ... When you're behind the scenes, you get to shape the whole thing. In front, it's just your character."
