Rumours of a Ridley Scott directed Halo movie have been denied by Microsoft.
A series of computer games have been adapted for the big screen in recent years, and it was believed that Halo was the next to get the movie treatment.
Production Weekly released a series of tweets that seemed to suggest that the film was set to go ahead - tweets that have since been removed.
However, Microsoft have put the record straight telling Eurogamer: "The Halo franchise encompasses many elements, including games, action figures, novels and more," a Microsoft spokesperson explained.
"As always, we have many projects in the works that offer us the opportunity to bring in new audiences to the franchise, as we did in the past with Halo Legends and Halo: Forward Unto Dawn.
"We plan to continue telling the Halo story through innovative channels, but there are no plans for a Halo motion picture at this time."
As for Ridley Scott, he has just completed work on Exodus, which will star Christian Bale as Moses.
