Pete Docter says that there are no current plans for a sequel to Inside Out.
Docter has returned to the director's chair for the latest offering from Pixar - which is their first original film since Brave back in 2012. And it is a film that has already been a box office smash and has the critics raving.
While there are sequel projects in the pipeline with Finding Dory and The Incredibles 2 - which follow on from Monsters University, Cars 2, and Toy Story 3 - there will not be an Inside Out sequel any time soon.
Speaking to EW, the director said: "There's no sequel idea from me at this point. Never say never."
Inside Out was kept from the top of the U.S. box office this weekend by Jurassic World, but it did go on to gross in excess of $91 million. It is already one of the most acclaimed animation movies of 2015 and is already being tipped for Best Animated Feature Oscar success at the 2016 Academy Awards.
Inside Out is another animation gem from Docter, who has already been in the director's chair for Monsters Inc and Up in recent years.
The movie follows the emotions in the head of Riley as they try to navigate her through her new life in San Francisco. Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, and Mindy Kaling have lent their voices to the characters of Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Disgust.
However, we still have a few weeks to wait until Inside Out hits the big screen in the UK, but it looks set to be monster hit here as well.
Inside Out is released 24th July.
