Nicole Kidman says that he wanted to be respectful of Grace Kelly in new film Grace of Monaco.
The Oscar winning actress takes on the role of Kelly in the Olivier Dahan directed film while Tim Roth plays Prince Rainier III.
But the film has come under fire from members of the Monaco royal family as they have questioned the film's historical accuracy.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph the actress said: "I wanted to be respectful of her, her story and her essence so hopefully that will all come through."
"It's exciting but at first it was daunting. At the same time I had studied her and felt a kind of tenderness towards her."
Milo Ventimiglia, Parker Posey, Paz Vega, Frank Langella and Derek Jacobi are all also on the cast list for the film.
As for Kidman we are going to be seeing plenty of her on the big screen this year as The Paperboy and Stoker are both set for release.
She has also completed work on The Railway Man with Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard.
