Nicolas Winding Refn says that he is keen to make a big Hollywood movie and likes the idea of tackling a comic book film.
Refn has brought us movies such as Drive and Only God Forgives in recent years and is famed for his slightly left-field independent movies.
However, the director admits that he would love to tackle a blockbuster film and perhaps Batgirl could be the comic book project for him.
Speaking to Business Insider, the filmmaker said: "God, I would love to make one, it would probably be great fun... I just don't know when it's going to happen.
"I very much enjoy my freedom creatively, but I also would love to make one of those big Hollywood films that costs a lot of money and has a lot of people running around with cell phones and all that insanity... What ones are left? You know the one I want to do? I want to make Batgirl. Let's get Warner working on it."
Refn is set to return to the director's chair this summer with his latest film The Neon Demon, which is the director's first movie since Only God Forgives three years ago.
As well as being in the director's chair, Refn has also penned the film's screenplay and he teams up with actress Elle Fanning for the first time.
The director has assembled another terrific cast list as Jena Malone, Bella Heathcote, Abbey Lee, Christina Hendricks, and Keanu Reeves will all star alongside Fanning.
The Neon Demon was screened at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this summer, where the film competed for the prestigious Palme d'Or.
The Neon Demon is released 8th July.
