Nicolas Winding Refn has spoke out in defence of Ryan Gosling's directorial debut Lost River.
Lost River was both written and directed by Gosling, and made it's premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last week: where is was met by mainly negative reviews.
However, Refn - who worked with Gosling on Drive and Only God Forgives - jumped to the defence of the first time director.
Speaking to New York Magazine, the director said: "I think it's a beautiful, beautiful, great movie that will grow on people. There are images from it that still stick with me
"Because we're twins we make the same movie. Separated at birth, we found each other. That's the thing about twins. We stick together."
Gosling has brought together a terrific cast for the film, as Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan, Matt Smith and Evan Mendes all star.
No UK release date has been announced for Lost River.
