Nicholas Hoult says it is always great to have new actors join the X-Men cast list as they bring a 'new energy' to the set.
Hoult is set to reprise the role of Beast in X-Men: Apocalypse in what is the third X-Men film for the British actor.
Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smit-McPhee are some of the new additions as they take on the roles of Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Nightcrawler. Hoult says it has been exciting to see them bring something new to these characters.
Speaking to ScreenRant, the actor said: "I've watched a lot of their work, so it's kind of intimidating in a way having them coming in with such a catalogue of great films.
"They're great actors and already carrying themselves with such poise and knowledge of what they're doing, I don't remember being like that. So it's cool, it's fun. It's always nice to have new people on set and new energy, I suppose, as well. It's also, for me, nice to see...
"I grew up watching the first X-Men, I was eleven I think when that came out, and it's fun to see the new version of Jean Grey and Cyclops and them, and their backstory, because you didn't get to see much of that, so to see that developing as a fan, I really enjoy watching them do that."
X-Men: Apocalypse sees Hoult reunite with Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, and Michael Fassbender, as they reprise the roles of Mystique, Charles Xavier, and Magneto.
The film also marks the third collaboration between Hoult and director Bryan Singer; they have previously worked together on X-Men: Days of Future Past and Jack the Giant Slayer.
X-Men: Apocalypse is just one of the movies that we are going to see Hoult star in this year as he has also completed work on Collide. He is currently filming Sand Castle alongside Henry Cavill.
X-Men: Apocalypse is released 19th May.
