Suffragette is a movie that is already being tipped as a possible Oscar contender and it has been announced that the movie's new release date will be 12th October.
Suffragette is one of the big British movies of the autumn and will follow the early days of the Suffragette movement as they battled for equality.
As well as a brand new release date, a great new poster has been released featuring Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep, and Helena Bonham Carter - I really cannot wait to see these great actresses share the big screen together.
Mulligan is set to play footsoldier Maud, while Bonham Carter and Streep are on board as iconic Suffragette women Edith New and Emmeline Pankhurst.
A wonderful cast has been assembled for the film, as Mulligan, Bonham Carter and Streep are joined by Natalie Press, Anne-Marie Duff, Romola Garai, Brendan Gleeson, and Ben Whishaw.
Suffragette is an intense drama that tracks the story of the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement as they fought for the right to vote, women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State.
These women were not primarily from the genteel educated classes, they were working women who had seen peaceful protest achieve nothing. Radicalised and turning to violence as the only route to change, they were willing to lose everything in their fight for equality - their jobs, their homes, their children and their lives.
The character of Maud, played by Carey Mulligan, is one such foot soldier. The story of her fight for dignity is both heart-breaking and inspirational.
Suffragette is released 12th October.
