A new trailer has recently dropped for Marvel Studios’ Eternals, which shows the team in a brand-new and exciting light.
For the past 13 years, Marvel fans have followed the journey of The Avengers, a team made up of (originally) six characters who all fight to protect the Earth, and the universe. Over time, more characters have been introduced, but now it is time to welcome never-before-seen characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
It is high time a new team entered the fray that is the MCU, and it seems that the Eternals are the first to brave it. The first trailer for this movie seemingly did little in the way of intrigue for fans, but the second one aroused plenty of interest.
The second trailer explains, as the first one did, that the Eternals came to Earth thousands of years ago, and have watched the horrors on the planet unfold; they cannot get involved with humans, hence why they did not attempt to stop Thanos (Josh Brolin) from putting his murderous plan into action.
This new trailer (released on August 19th, 2021) was much more interesting than the last, and really showcased the stunning cinematography, special effects, outstanding cast, and the monsters that the Eternals fight to keep Earth and its inhabitants safe.
One shot shows what appears to be a Celestial, after one character asks why the team didn’t help defeat the Mad Titan. There may be another explanation, but it seems that Marvel are unveiling everything that fans want to see and answering a vast array of questions.
Deviants, a race thought to be long gone, are back; the beasts are the only thing the Eternals can interfere with, and they seem hell-bent on destroying human life. Their shocking return means that the group are forced to band together and defeat them in order to save humankind.
Directed by Chloé Zhao, Eternals shows a brand-new side to Marvel. Many fans are blown away and excited by the fresh, original stories heading their way in Phase 4 of the MCU, and we are just as excited, if not more so.
The MCU is changing, evolving and growing, and characters who have never been seen on the big screen are finally making an appearance; this marks a whole new frontier for the Studio, and the enthusiasm and anticipation is spreading from fan to fan, creating a rush for everyone who has been following the MCU since 2008’s Iron Man.
Eternals boasts a stellar cast, including Gemma Chan as human-loving Sersi, Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as cosmic-powered Kingo, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos.
Lauren Ridloff is the super-fast Makkari, Barry Keoghan as aloof loner Druig, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, with Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, with Salma Hayek as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena.
Each character seems to have different powers and abilities, raising even more enthusiasm from eager fans.
Eternals will be in cinemas on November 5th, 2021.
